This week’s theme is “Perseverance ”. As many of you may know, I am a huge sports fanatic and a big Lakers fan. About one year ago, I was taken back by the news of Kobe Bryant and Gianna losing their lives in a helicopter crash. This made me reflect on what I do for my kids and the many trips I take on a weekly basis to practices and games for them, just as he was doing on that fateful day. Then with the news of this past week, losing yet another great athlete and leader in Hank Aaron, I found myself looking into what made these men more than just athletes. They were leaders and historical figures beyond just what they did on the court or field. They persevered to become iconic figures that touched so many lives, but especially those that were closest to them.
Theme: Perseverance As teachers, we are given challenges every day. Yet, we put together a plan, set the goals, and execute the plan so that we can help our students grow. Along the way, we face challenges and obstacles that can derail the plan. But the best teachers find ways to overcome the obstacles and make the learning experience the best for all of their students. Show your perseverance and make an impact on your students. Quote Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. - John Wooden Goal This week, set a goal based on your communication or how you will allow for effective communication in your classroom. Reflection Last week you set a goal for communication. Did you achieve your goal? What did you do to achieve your goal? If you did not reach your goal, what should/could you do differently to reach it? Video Kobe Bryant (Once Upon A Time…) - (YouTube) Kobe Bryant talks about having something he loves and doing whatever it took to be the best he could be at it. I hope you find something here you can use this week. Thank you to those who shared their thoughts with me last week and I have received some great feedback for future posts. If you have something that has motivated you and would like to share, please reach out and I would be happy to share in a future “Monday Morning Motivation”.
