As we navigate these unique times, we find ourselves looking for ways to improve ourselves, our classrooms, and our families. As I reflected on that last year, I realized that I have seen and been a part of so many great things. Seeing how each and every one of you have adjusted, adapted to, and most importantly overcome so many obstacles that have been thrown at you.
Now that we are transitioning into a new phase of learning, I wanted to share an idea of getting ready for the week with you. Here is my first “Monday Morning Motivation”. Theme: Why am I a Great Teacher? Each of you deserves to ask yourself this question. You know what you do, you teach. But you do more than just teach. You share your expertise in many ways. You have put in thousands of hours to learn content, find ways to share this knowledge and adapt what you have learned to be able to share this with your students so that they can have the best experience possible. You know what you do, but WHY do you do it? As you look through the list below, take some time to reflect on WHY you teach and WHY you are a great teacher. Quote of the week: "If we work to make every day better than the day before, imagine what our days will be like at the end of our lives." - Simon Sinek Your Goal of the week: This is where you come into this. Set a goal for yourself, professional or personal. Write it down. Read it each morning. Share it with someone important to you. "This week I will ...." Reflection: Take time each day to reflect on what you accomplished during the day or over the past week. "Last week I completed ...." "Yesterday I ..." "My students ..." Video: The Life Cycle of a Cup of Coffee - TedEd The video represents all the work and effort it takes to make 1 cup of coffee. I relate this to our students and how it takes collaboration and a large team to make each cup of coffee, just like it takes a team to make each one of our students successful. Article: 4 Tips for Setting Powerful Goals - Jim Rohn Setting and achieving goals is a powerful tool to use to stay on track and keep up motivation. Being able to set effective and attainable goals provide a guide for success. Book: Start With Why - Simon Sinek This is a book that I enjoy and use often as a resource for my growth.
