This week’s theme is “Innovation.” What was the first thing you did this morning? When you woke up this morning, you used something that was created and invented to make your life simpler. Whether you checked your phone, turned on your television, or just simply used something with running water. Anything you used was an innovation to make our lives better. Many of these things we take for granted, but at some point, these were ideas in the minds of an innovator.
Innovation is one of the most important ideas that help us grow, thrive, and continue to move forward. If you don’t believe this, ask yourself, “When is the last time you washed your shirt with a washboard?” A washer and dryer is just one example of how innovation has changed our daily lives. Now that you are thinking about all the innovations that you use on a daily basis, how can you innovate and make your classroom an effective learning environment? Every classroom is filled with innovations and innovators. As educators, we are using resources to share our curriculum and trying to motivate our students to want to learn and grow. How we do this is the key to making the experience effective for all. We innovate by taking what others have done and make it better for the students in the classroom. It’s not always about inventing something new, it’s about being innovative and creative. Use your expertise in curriculum and teaching, put this together, and then create an effective learning experience. So as you finish out the month of August, allow yourself and your students to be innovators. Quote: “Don’t find fault, find a remedy” - Henry Ford Goal: Be innovative.
