This week’s theme is “Opportunity”. With everything going on in our nation currently, as an educational community, we have the opportunity to help our students and community through this unique time in history.
Theme: Opportunity? As teachers, we find ourselves in a situation to be able to provide an opportunity to help our students through these unique times in our nation’s history. Teachers are experts in specific areas of content, but now we have the opportunity to show our expertise by providing a learning environment beyond the content of your class. Take time this week to provide an opportunity for you and your students to consume the learning opportunities and help mold them into solid young adults and leaders. Quote The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.- Martin Luther King, Jr. Goal This week, set a goal based on your communication or how you will allow for effective communication in your classroom. Reflection Last week you had the opportunity to focus on your first goal based on this new blog. Did you achieve your goal? What did you do to achieve your goal? If you did not reach your goal, what should/could you do differently to reach it? Video My Wish (Music Video) - Rascal Flatts (YouTube) I chose this song/song video to share as it talks about hope, dreams and choices, many of the topics we are facing today and this week. Article What Your Students Will Remember About You? - Angela Duckworth (EducationWeek.com) As teachers, we are mentors and stabilizing influences on our students. Our students need us more than ever right now. As we face the many challenges ahead of us, what will your students remember about you and how will you help them? Book The Power of Moments - Chip Heath & Dan Heath This book is about how to take moments and make them memorable. I hope you find something here you can use this week. Thank you to those who shared their thoughts with me last week and I have received some great feedback for future posts. If you have something that has motivated you and would like to share, please reach out and I would be happy to share in a future “Monday Morning Motivation”.
