This past week and weekend gave me a new perspective on how a community is such a big part of all of our lives. Whether you attended the Friday night football game, the parade and pep rally or just threw on your favorite decades attire. We all showed our support for the educational community and the many families we are a part of. Over the past 16+ years I have taken in many different activities to become a part of the Antioch and ACHS community. This year was the first year I was able to see this from a different perspective, a parent of a student in a community based school with the support of the community that is serves.
This year I was able to attend my son’s first homecoming parade and other activities. Some of the things that really grabbed my attention were people lining the streets preparing for the parade, including a group of people grilling hot dogs and sharing with all the parade goers, the multitude of activities, not just sports, that provided floats for the parade, and the amount of educators who were in and around the parade so the students and community members could have an amazing experience. This reminded of the many times that Antioch and our staff have done this for our kids. All of us coming together as a community to create an amazing and everlasting experience for our students. So as you fall into the colder days that approach, know that you are not just a vital part of this school, but you all amazing and necessary members of this entire Antioch community. Keep up the great work and have an amazing week. Quote: “Education is the cornerstone of our communities and our country.” - Bill Frist Goal: Do something to enhance the community.
