This week’s theme is “Desire.” Desire is a feeling towards something and is often shown with our actions to obtain or achieve. On the world stage, Desire was shown by so many different athletes during the Winter Olympics. Whether they were the best in the world or just the best from their own country, each athlete showed a desire to achieve and proudly represent their nation. Desire is often described as a feeling, but it was seen throughout the Olympics, the Desire each athlete had to complete. Often with a smile, fist pump, or most notably, tears of both joy and sadness. One of the next events that will show people with a great deal of Desire is the Paralympics beginning at the end of this week. These athletes are not only competing for their countries, but they are showing how their Desire to not only achieve but overcome can lead to great moments for all to see.
Desire is more than just athletic achievement. Desire can be what you want to achieve on a daily basis. Desire often provides guidance for whom we want to be and what goals we have for ourselves. Beyond athletics, it is being seen throughout the world as the Desire for people to fight for what they believe in. No matter what your beliefs may be, seeing the Desire shown by so many people demonstrates the power of Desire. If Desire can be this powerful for so many, how can you use this concept to grow and move forward in your life? Each of us has a Desire to educate and help others. Whether it is the students in our classrooms, our colleagues down the hall, or those we interact with outside this building, we all have a Desire to make life better for everyone. So as you navigate through this week, use your Desires to help guide you to improving as much about yourself and others as you can.
